Colour Mood Board and Analysis

Included in my colour mood board are different shades of the colours that were most popular with my target audience. I found out which colours to use in the results of my questionnaire.

Black and White were two colours I found to be very popular with my audience when analysing my questionnaire results. To show all the shades between black and white I used a whole row to show a few of the best looking ones.

The colour red is very popular in already existing music magazines such as ‘NME’ and ‘Q’. This may be a good colour to use as both these magazines are very successful. However, this could also be a bad thing as I wouldn’t want the audience to get this magazine confuses with already existing ones. It may more a more successful magazine if the main colour is original.

Font Mood Board and Analysis

After gathering the results from my questionnaire I posted on survey monkey, I found out that my target audience found large and bold fonts the most attractive. After finding this out, my mood board has a consistence theme of mostly large and bold fonts.
I used fonts from two different platforms. The first rows of fonts on the mood board are those that you can access through text on Photoshop. However, the more interesting fonts located on the second and third row of the mood board I created were found on a website called ‘Da font’. I downloaded these additional fonts to use in Photoshop.
The font downloaded from 'Da Font' named 'Olivier' is a likely font i will use. This is because it's a large and bold font, this is good because when doing the questionnaire i found out that the target audience wanted this type of font. Often large and bold fonts can be boring. However, because this one is hand written it looks slightly quirky and stands out from other fonts.

Original Idea Statement

I am going to create a magazine based on music, as well as music I will include the latest fashions and trends in the music world. It will be a magazine aimed at a predominantly male audience of the age of 15-25. It will be a magazines mainly about alternative/indie music.

I am creating this type of music magazine because it will be a magazine that I personally would be interested in reading. The age group I am making the magazine for is the same as the age group I’m a member of, because of this, this will be the easiest age group for me to create a magazine for. As I am a member of this age group and also listen to alternative/indie music, I will know which articles/photos/artists would interest the target audience.

Alternative/indie music is the genre of music that I’m know knowledgeable on and I occasionally read music magazines under this genre. When creating the magazine, I will know what the target audience would expect to see in the magazine making it easier for me to do.

BBC magazines are also well known for publishing a lot of magazines aimed at children. Some children magazines publish by BBC magazines include ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Cbeebies Weekly’, ‘Bob the Builder’ and ‘National Geographic Kids’.
The majority of money made by BBC Magazines is from magazines targeted at children. This is due to the large amount of them that they produce and because both children and their parents will be interested in them reading magazines.

One of the most famous magazines published by Bauer Media Group and certainly the most famous music magazine published by them is ‘Q magazine’. Brand Mood Board and Analysis

Already existing music magazines such as NME and Kerrang are sponsors of tour and music festivals. Both these music magazines have their own tour and NME have a stage named after them at Reading and Leeds music festival. The reason behind including music festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, T in the park and V festival in the mood board is that these places may want to sponsor my magazine as they already sponsor music magazines similar to the one I’m creating.
I included ticket master in my mood board. People reading the music magazine I’m creating will be interested in attending gigs and music festivals, this is the company that all these people will go to when buying tickets for these events.
The target audience for my magazine is young adults between the age of sixteen and thirty. These people will have been brought up with technology there for will be similar with social media sites such as twitter, Facebook and tumblr. This is why I have included these companies in the mood board.

Target Audience Mood Board With Analysis

On the target audience mood board that I have created I have included the logos for festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds and Latitude festival. This is because the readers of the magazine I’m creating will be interested in attending music festivals. I thought these three festivals are the tree most likely they will want to attend because the artists playing at the music festivals are the same/similar for the artists who will feature in the magazine I’m creating.
I also used a photo of a drum stick and a guitar. People who are really interested in music may not only want to listen to it and read about it. But they may also want to form a band and produce their own music.
I have used the twitter and you tube logo in my mood board. The target audience for my music magazine will be young adults between the age of sixteen and thirty. All of these people will have grown up with technology. Therefore, probably will be interested in and regularly use social media websites.
I have included the logos of popular bands of shoes such as vans and converse. The young trendy people reading the magazine may wear or being interested in shoes made by brands such as these.
